Currier Museum of Art Photo Shoot

Ever thought about having your wedding, corporate or special event take place in a museum? Signature Events was recently invited to design a sweetheart table for a Capitol Bride magazine photo shoot at the Currier Museum of Art located in Manchester, NH. During the photo shoot I was able to see for myself just how beautiful a setting in a museum could be! If you have a fondness for art or are looking for a unique, one of a kind setting, then this is the place for you! Be sure to check out the summer issue of Capitol Bride magazine for more images from this photo shoot or visit their site on Facebook.

The Knot – NH Industry Event

Signature Events recently had the opportunity to plan and design an event for The Knot Wedding Network; the national and well known on-line and magazine presence for anyone planning a wedding. Throughout the course of the year, similar events are held in other states, and this year, the professionals within the wedding industry in the State of New Hampshire were treated to a wonderful networking event and cocktail party, complete with the signature “Knot-tini” drinks. What was even more exciting was being able to plan the event in my home town, giving me the opportunity to work with many of the local businesses.

The Wolfeboro Inn hosted the event and Executive Chef Stephen Harding prepared delicious tray passed hors D’oeuvres such as Fennel Seared Tuna with Wasabi Ponzu Sauce, Morrocan Lamb Profiterole and Seared Foie Gras with Apple Salsa (to name just a few) as well as food stations featuring Thai Noodles, Proscuitto Stuffed Chicken and Seared Scallop with Coconut Risotto and Roasted Tomato Beurre Blanc. For those with a sweet tooth, Jennifer’s For Every Occasion made black bottom cupcakes with a cheesecake filling and white chocolate butter cream topping, complete with a logo for The Knot prominently displayed on top of each cupcake. In addition, she designed and hand piped sugar cookies in the shape of a loon to represent Lake Winnipesaukee. The Penny Candy Shop in Wolfeboro donated chocolate bars featuring “America’s Oldest Summer Resort” for the vendor goodie bags.

I wanted to create an event that would reflect the image of The Knot and also reflect the feeling of Lake Winnipesaukee. Teal blue crinkle taffeta linens donated by Cloth Connection complimented the colors of the 1812 Room at The Wolfeboro Inn as well as the “signature blue” of The Knot. Highboy tables and fruitwood Chivari chairs were donated by Lakes Region Tent & Event. Linda’s Flowers & Gifts created a tall, stunning centerpiece made with orchids and white hydrangea for the registration table as well as beautiful centerpieces for each of the highboy tables. To complete the “wow” that The Knot was looking for, I worked with APS Lighting-Sound-AV to produce subtle, but effective uplighting throughout the room and a gobo reflecting the logo for The Knot was featured on the ceiling. Details of the event were captured by Stephanie Wales Photography. And of course, no event would be complete without great music, so it was a pleasure to work with nationally award winning musician and DJ, Aaron Topfer who provided upbeat background music for the event.

A tradition that has been featured by all of the states that have participated in this event is to collect food donations from the invited guests to give to a local charity. I was thrilled to suggest Life Ministries Food Pantry in Wolfeboro. It was so rewarding for me to see the amount of food and monetary donations that were made throughout the evening to the charity and even more exciting to be able to call the Life Ministries Food Pantry the next morning to share the good news with them!

Overall, it was a great way to network as well as showcase other New Hampshire industry professionals and a wonderful opportunity for Signature Events to be able to plan an event for The Knot.

Special thanks to Stephanie Wales Photography for providing the photos for this post and to NH Account Executive Stacy Rowe (featured above) for all that she does for the NH industry professionals.

Inspired by Color

OK, I know… it has been way too long since I posted my last blog. Where does the time go anyway? Recently, when a friend commented to me that it had been awhile since she had seen a new post, I knew I better get my act in gear and post SOMETHING! I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite photos from my recent trip to Italy, Greece, Turkey and Croatia. As a matter of fact, this trip explains at least 10 days of my absence from blogging….

Anyone who knows me knows that I am all about COLOR! My friends and clients can tell that I am inspired by color from the moment they walk in my door. My office for Signature Events is the perfect reflection of my personality and love of color. I find working with color can make an event feel warm and welcoming and often encourage my clients to incorporate their favorite color or colors into their wedding or event.

So, as it was on this trip, there were many wonderful, colorful photo opportunities. From the houses in Barone, Italy to the shopping stalls with beautiful scarves and pottery in Istanbul, Turkey to the colorful laundry lines in Debrovnik, Croatia…everywhere I looked I was surrounded by “yummy”, colorful images….which was an absolute photographers dream for me! I took so many photos (628 to be exact) on this trip and have included a few here in this post, so that you, too, can be inspired by color! Enjoy!

Branding Meg & Josh's Wedding

As promised, I wanted to feature the branding aspect of Meg and Josh’s wedding on Lake Winnipesaukee. Meg and Josh were such a fun couple to work with and I could tell right from the start that their black lab Winni was very much a part of their lives. So it came as no surprise that Winni’s name came up in our initial consultation with Celeste Simpson of Impress Me Designs.

Before I go any further, I have to tell you that I cannot say enough about Celeste. From the first time I met her, we hit it off and I felt as if I had known her for years! She has a warm and friendly personality that anyone can immediately feel comfortable with. Her portfolio of individually custom handcrafted invitations is amazing and I just knew that she would be the perfect match for my clients!

I have to say that I truly believe that the invitation is the best place to start in order to set the tone and atmosphere for an event. From the moment your guests receive their invitation they have their first glimpse of what is to come. It is important for your invitation to convey both of your personalities and have a personalized touch that all of your guests will recognize. A great invitation can definitely create a buzz and that always makes for a great first impression! From an earlier conversation with Meg’s Dad, Chuck, I knew that he, too, felt the invitation was important to the wedding….after all, you want your guests to be excited about your wedding!

The invitation that Celeste created for Meg and Josh was definitely all that! Based on the initial consultation, Celeste created 3 sample invitations for Meg and Josh to choose from. The beautiful red, turquoise and shimmery white invitations were complemented by a graphic image of Winni that Celeste had created from a photograph that Meg had provided. Additional customization was complete when Celeste added a cameo embellishment depicting Winni’s face to the front closure of each invitation. To add even more excitement and anticipation of the wedding, the invitations were sent to each guest in a turquoise box mailer. Without a doubt, the guests knew just how special this wedding was going to be when they received their boxed invitation in the mail.

The graphical icon of Winni gleefully jumping off a lakeside dock was carried throughout not only their wedding stationery, but into the event’s d├ęcor. The icon branded the event in every way and was included in a custom ice sculpture, custom luminary bags, a gobo on the dance floor, the seating chart and an elegantly crafted etched brandy glass for their guests to take home as their wedding favor.

Creating an icon and finding that unique piece will bring cohesiveness to your event. It will also set a warm and inviting atmosphere for your guests to enjoy all while making your personalities shine through. After all, this day is about you!

Special thanks go to Birch Blaze Photography for providing the 1st and 2nd photos of the blog and to Cy Cyr Photography for providing the remaining photos.
