Signature Events recently had the opportunity to plan and design an event for The Knot Wedding Network; the national and well known on-line and magazine presence for anyone planning a wedding. Throughout the course of the year, similar events are held in other states, and this year, the professionals within the wedding industry in the State of New Hampshire were treated to a wonderful networking event and cocktail party, complete with the signature “Knot-tini” drinks. What was even more exciting was being able to plan the event in my home town, giving me the opportunity to work with many of the local businesses.
The Wolfeboro Inn hosted the event and Executive Chef Stephen Harding prepared delicious tray passed hors D’oeuvres such as Fennel Seared Tuna with Wasabi Ponzu Sauce, Morrocan Lamb Profiterole and Seared Foie Gras with Apple Salsa (to name just a few) as well as food stations featuring Thai Noodles, Proscuitto Stuffed Chicken and Seared Scallop with Coconut Risotto and Roasted Tomato Beurre Blanc. For those with a sweet tooth, Jennifer’s For Every Occasion made black bottom cupcakes with a cheesecake filling and white chocolate butter cream topping, complete with a logo for The Knot prominently displayed on top of each cupcake. In addition, she designed and hand piped sugar cookies in the shape of a loon to represent Lake Winnipesaukee. The Penny Candy Shop in Wolfeboro donated chocolate bars featuring “America’s Oldest Summer Resort” for the vendor goodie bags.
I wanted to create an event that would reflect the image of The Knot and also reflect the feeling of Lake Winnipesaukee. Teal blue crinkle taffeta linens donated by Cloth Connection complimented the colors of the 1812 Room at The Wolfeboro Inn as well as the “signature blue” of The Knot. Highboy tables and fruitwood Chivari chairs were donated by Lakes Region Tent & Event. Linda’s Flowers & Gifts created a tall, stunning centerpiece made with orchids and white hydrangea for the registration table as well as beautiful centerpieces for each of the highboy tables. To complete the “wow” that The Knot was looking for, I worked with APS Lighting-Sound-AV to produce subtle, but effective uplighting throughout the room and a gobo reflecting the logo for The Knot was featured on the ceiling. Details of the event were captured by Stephanie Wales Photography. And of course, no event would be complete without great music, so it was a pleasure to work with nationally award winning musician and DJ, Aaron Topfer who provided upbeat background music for the event.
A tradition that has been featured by all of the states that have participated in this event is to collect food donations from the invited guests to give to a local charity. I was thrilled to suggest Life Ministries Food Pantry in Wolfeboro. It was so rewarding for me to see the amount of food and monetary donations that were made throughout the evening to the charity and even more exciting to be able to call the Life Ministries Food Pantry the next morning to share the good news with them!
Overall, it was a great way to network as well as showcase other New Hampshire industry professionals and a wonderful opportunity for Signature Events to be able to plan an event for The Knot.
Special thanks to Stephanie Wales Photography for providing the photos for this post and to NH Account Executive Stacy Rowe (featured above) for all that she does for the NH industry professionals.
I had a great time working this event Amy. Awesome job with all of the details!
